Christmas Songs

O Holy Night (Mp3下载链接:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1o6pt7Yy)

The words and lyrics of the old carol 'O Holy Night' were writtenby Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure in 1847. Cappeau was a wine sellerby trade but was asked by the parish priest to write a poem forChristmas. He obliged and wrote the beautiful words of the hymn. Hethen realised that it should have music to accompany the words andhe approached his friend Adolphe Charles Adams(1803-1856). Heagreed and the music for the poem was therefore composed by AdolpheCharles Adams. Adolphe had attended the Paris conservatoire andforged a brilliant career as a composer. It was translated intoEnglish by John Sullivan Dwight (1812-1893).

O Holy Night

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error pining.

Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!

O night divine, the night when Christ was born;

O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,

With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.

O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,

Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.

The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;

In all our trials born to be our friends.

He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,

Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,

His law is love and His gospel is peace.

Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.

And in his name all oppression shall cease.

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,

With all our hearts we praise His holy name.

Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,

His power and glory ever more proclaim!

His power and glory ever more proclaim!

Silent Night

(Mp3下载链接1:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1c0zNrUS) (下载链接2:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1jG1CX0a)

The origin of the Christmas carol we know as Silent Night was apoem that was written in 1816 by an Austrian priest called JosephMohr. On Christmas Eve in 1818 in the small alpine village calledOberndorf it is reputed that the organ at St. Nicholas Church hadbroken. Joseph Mohr gave the poem of Silent Night (Stille Nacht) tohis friend Franz Xavier Gruber and the melody for Silent Night wascomposed with this in mind. The music to Silent Night was thereforeintended for a guitar and the simple score was finished in time forMidnight Mass. Silent Night is the most famous Christmas carol ofall time!

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth "

Away ina Manger(Mp3下载链接:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1sjPLn57)

Away in amanager is always the first carol that children are taught. Away ina Manger was originally published in 1885. The publication of Awayin a Manger was in a Lutheran Sunday school book and this createdthe misconception that the lyrics of Away in a Manger were actuallywritten by Martin Luther himself. The author is unknown. The musicto Away in a Manger was composed by William J. Kirkpatrick in1895.

Away in a Manger

Away in amanger,
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head

The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing
The Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes

I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle,
'Til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray

Bless all the dear children
In Thy tender care
And take us to heaven
To live with Thee there

We WishYou a Merry Christmas (Mp3下载链接:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1c0rFODM)

The authorand composer of We Wish You a Merry Christmas cannot be tracedhowever it is believed to date back to England in the sixteenthcentury. The tradition of carollers being given Christmas treatsfor singing to wealthy members of the community is reflected inthis Christmas song - We Wish You a Merry Christmas! Over the yearsthe fashion for figgy puddings mentioned in We Wish You a MerryChristmas has faded. But for the curious, the recipe consisted ofthe most important ingredient which was of course figs togetherwith butter, sugar, eggs ,milk, rum, apple, lemon and orange peel,nuts, cinnamon, cloves and ginger! Not dissimilar to the modern dayChristmas Puddings!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Enya’s Version

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.

Good tidings we bring to you and yourkin;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.

We all want some figgy pudding;
We all want some figgy pudding;
We all want some figgy pudding so bring some righthere.

We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some so bring some right here.

Good tidings we bring to you and yourkin;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.

Good tidings we bring to you and yourkin;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;

Jingle Bells(Mp3下载链接:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1qWtZo9A)

Believe it or not Jingle Bells, one of the most famous AmericanChristmas songs, was originally written for Thanksgiving! Theauthor and composer of Jingle Bells was a minister called JamesPierpoint who composed the song in 1857 for children celebratinghis Boston Sunday School Thanksgiving. The song was so popular thatit was repeated at Christmas, and indeed Jingle Bells has beenreprised ever since. The essence of a traditional Christmas iscaptured in the lyrics of Jingle Bells and the sound effects usingthe bells have become synonymous with the arrival of FatherChristmas or Santa Claus to the delight of children of allages!

Jingle Bells

Dashingthrough the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh yeah

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer(Mp3下载链接:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1sjpTxM1)

“The famous Christmas song Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer startedlife as a poem created by an American advertising executive calledRobert May. He was requested to produce a poem that could be givenaway to children by the Santa Claus employed by Department Storesat Christmas! Working as an Advertising Executive Robert May had anatural flair with words and was able to compose the Rudolph thered-nosed reindeer poem which was specifically designed to appealto children. This marketing ploy was a massive success andapproximately 2.5 million Rudolph, the red-nosedreindeerpoems were given away in the first yearof its publication! In 1949 the singer Gene Autry recorded amusical version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer composed byJohnny Marks.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph,the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

歌词:

It's the most beautiful time of the year Lights fill the streets spreading so much cheer

I should be playing in the winter snow

But I'mma be under the mistletoe

I don't wanna miss out on the holiday

But I can't stop staring at your face

I should be playing in the winter snow

But I'mma be under the mistletoe

With you, shawty with you

With you, shawty with you

With you, under the mistletoe

Everyone's gathering around the fire

Chestnuts roasting like a hot July

I should be chillin with my folks I know

But Imma be under the mistletoe

Wordon the street santa's coming at night

Reindeer's flying to the sky so high

I should be making a list i know

But Imma be under the mistletoe

With you, shawty with you

With you, shawty with you

With you, under the mistletoe

With you, shawty with you

With you, shawty with you

With you, under the mistletoe

Aye love, the wiseman followed a star

The way I follow my heart

And it lead me to a miracle

Aye love, dont you buy me nothing

I am feeling one thing

your lips on my lips

That's a very merry Christmas

It's the most beautiful time of the year

Lights fill the streets spreading so much cheer

I should be playing in the winter snow

But Imma be under the mistletoe

I don't wanna miss out on the holiday

But I can't stop staring at your face

I should be playing in the winter snow

But Imma be under the mistletoe

With you, shawty with you

With you, shawty with you

With you, under the mistletoe

With you, shawty with you

With you, shawty with you

With you, under the mistletoe

Kiss me underneath the mistletoe

show me baby that you love me so oh oh

oh oh oh

Kiss me underneath the mistletoe

show me baby that you love me so oh oh

oh oh oh

oh oh oh
